Redcliffe were tasked by their client to move two complete scanner units plus a Mercedes vehicle chassis from the UK into Iraq via an all road operation.
The end client was an Iraqi security company who were recently contracted to carry out security checks on all trucks arriving from neighbouring countries.
The scanners are vital in their job to detect any weapons, drugs, liquids humans and animals illegally crossing the border with the hope to protect the Kurdistan region from terrorists and drug dealers.
The cargo itself consisted of an Eagle M10 X-Ray imaging system which scans low to moderate density goods. The scanners are deployed on a manoeuvrable truck chassis which allows rapid deployment of the units to various sites within Iraq.
The units were loaded at point of origin in the UK onto low loader extender trailers and were later transferred onto a secondary vehicle en-route to allow for a smoother transit into Iraq.
Redcliffe’s scope of work for this particular job included loading, transportation via road, UK and Iraqi Customs clearance and completion of all documentation needed to support the complex Iraqi and Turkish legislations.
The cargo was successfully supplied into Iraq via the northern border point – Ibrahim Khalil main border crossing between Turkey and the Kurdistan region of Iraq.
The customer summarised “I would like to start by thanking Redcliffe and their staff. They’ve done a great job transporting the two scanners. Redcliffe have played a huge part in this, and without them we wouldn’t have been able to get these scanners to their end users. These scanners are delicate and expensive machinery, they were completely protected by Redcliffe and we were informed regularly throughout the entire process of the 4,500 km transport route”
